Projects and Collaborations
Over the years, Christine Walker has brought her artistic vision to a variety of creative projects — from illustration and storytelling to community art and education. Each collaboration reflects her passion for connection, colour, and capturing the beauty of everyday life.
Brushstrokes of Comfort and Community
Christine was honoured to partner with Foothills Country Hospice on this special project, where local artists came together to decorate the halls and walls of the hospice—offering moments of peace, calm, and quiet reflection for residents and families during a deeply meaningful and challenging journey.

International Art and Found Day
Christine is excited to be participating in her third year of Art and Found Day — a global movement where artists create original pieces and leave them out in their communities for others to discover and take home. It’s a beautiful reminder of how art can spark connection, surprise, and joy, especially when it’s found unexpectedly. Christine loves being part of this worldwide exchange of creativity, sharing small treasures that brighten someone’s day and bring a little extra warmth to the season.

Darly's Adventures

One of Christine’s most treasured projects is her collaboration with her sister, author Stephanie Horman, on the enchanting children’s series Darly’s Adventures.
Through vibrant brushstrokes and playful imagery, Christine brought Darly’s world to life — a place where curiosity, imagination, and heart lead the way. The series celebrates family, adventure, and the wonder found in small moments, mirroring the themes that run through Christine’s own artwork.
Working alongside her sister made this project especially meaningful — a true merging of story and art, and a reflection of the creative bond that’s been part of their lives since childhood.

Foothills Paint Off 2025

In this unique event, Christine joined four fellow artists for a full day of live painting — each interpreting the same landscape scene through their own artistic lens.
The Foothills Paint Off celebrated the diversity of artistic vision and the creative spirit that thrives within Alberta’s arts community. Christine’s piece stood out for its bold use of colour and expressive brushwork, transforming the shared scene into something deeply personal and alive.
For Christine, it was a reminder that art is not about imitation, but about interpretation — seeing the same world through four completely different sets of eyes.

Nooks & Crannies 2025

The Nooks & Crannies Festival is an annual public art event that transforms hidden corners of downtown Okotoks into creative installations made entirely from recycled and repurposed materials. The festival invites artists to reimagine how art can live outside the gallery — in alleys, stairwells, and unexpected spaces that invite community connection and curiosity.
For her installation, Christine Walker drew inspiration from her lifelong connection to the prairies and her belief that beauty can be found in the most unlikely places. Using recycled materials — including a bike tire, glass, and pop cans — Christine constructed a vibrant mixed-media piece that played with light, texture, and movement.
Each element represented transformation: the bike tire symbolizing journey and momentum, the glass reflecting both fragility and strength, and the pop cans adding colour and contrast — all brought together through Christine’s signature sense of rhythm and bold brushwork.
Her installation captured what the festival is all about: reimagining what’s been discarded, celebrating sustainability, and reminding viewers that creativity can breathe new life into the overlooked.
